Tudor Rose Warped Square Star

Beading

Join us for this exclusive one-day workshop with Kay Ackerman. We will create Kay’s original Tudor Rose Warped Square Star, a stunning 3-dimensional peyote beading piece. Kay designed this exclusively for the Stan Hywet Needlework Guild to feature the Tudor Rose, the Guild's emblem.

To complete the star, you will learn how to make a warped square using the stitch combinations pioneered by the Contemporary Geometric Beadwork group. Five such squares are stitched together to form the "puffy star." The completed star measures 3 inches in diameter.

The class kit will include printed instructions, size 11 cylinder beads in 5 colors, needles, and thread.

Students must bring a beading mat or other surface for beading, a bead scoop or triangle for picking up beads and putting them away, and embroidery scissors for cutting thread. Lighting and magnification are strongly encouraged. Students will also need to provide a soft flexible material for stuffing for the star such as quilt batting or Saran wrap.
