Nordic Mitten

Canvas

Who knew what a cookie cutter could produce in the needlework world? This delightful two-sided canvas project combines one variegated over-dyed pearl cotton thread, some coordinating pearl cottons or flosses, and a metallic accent thread. Both sides of the mitten are stitched at once.

The completed piece is a great size for finishing as an ornament, a topiary, or even like a stocking. Instructions will include the directions for finishing, though it will not be done in class. The finished size is 4 x 5  inches.

The class kit will include a piece of 8x12 inch 18-count interlock canvas, threads, size 20 and 22 tapestry needles, and a printed instruction booklet that includes a color photograph of the Nordic Mitten. Multiple colorways will be available and students will choose from available kits the day of class.

Students are to provide one pair each of 8” and 12” stretcher bars, tacks or staples to mount the canvas, usual stitching supplies and light and magnification if desired.
